We are looking for a smart and enthusiastic individual to join the priceline.com Technology team as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. We are looking for a smart, motivated and experienced system administrator with a strong automation skills to join our infrastructure engineering team.
This team is focused on architecture and engineering, as well as advancing automation on our private cloud. Our infrastructure handles billions of dollars in transactions each year, and we have been experiencing exciting growth as we embrace cloud automation, big data, and innovative product and services enhancements. We operate with a startup feel, but our contributions run at scale on a robust, stable and well known business.Description:You will help us design, run and automate our system infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, backup, and monitoring. We are well along our DevOps and automation journey, and have a lot of challenging and interesting technologies to implement and improve, so we expect you to be creative and to contribute to the continuing evolution of our architecture. You will collaborate with other teams in our technology department.
Our private cloud consists of a few hundred VMWare servers, hosting several thousand VM’s, bare metal servers, mission critical storage, and virtualized network connectivity. We operate a full compliment of services such as data protection, unix services (dns, ldap, smtp, ntp, fim) and automation technologies such as Ansible. We implement some systems in Google Cloud. On top of that, we monitor our environment with Zabbix, and provide many critical infrastructure services as well.
The ideal candidate is excited and motivated about running a production grade critical infrastructure. First and foremost, this is an engineering and architecture position. On a given day, you may find yourself coding a script or program to automate a process, working with other teams to bring a critical service back from the dead, solving a stubborn problem, building out more capacity, trying out a new tool, or coming up with solutions that will make a process more efficient .
You should be excited by learning new technologies, and you are comfortable with change. You are not shy about learning from your co-workers asking questions, experimenting, and sharing your results in a busy environment. You tend to see opportunities rather than obstacles. You also tend to get excited about computer science and technology in general, and find yourself seeking out information on new technologies on your own.
