In this role you will get to:
The Principal Server Engineer will have a broad range of responsibilities that require in-depth knowledge across multiple domains of enterprise infrastructure, including physical/virtual servers, high availability and clustering, Windows/Linux, networking, and cloud technologies such as GCP. The scope will include solving operational issues for all Windows Server and Citrix related services, to all clients and service levels while following all ITSM best practices. This requires excellent communication skills to work across teams to solve daily operational incidents and to coordinate Server management activities. The successful candidate will manage conflicts and escalation to achieve results while maintaining excellent working relationships across the teams. The successful candidate will also possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
Provides planning, coordination, and implementation for server and related application installations, upgrades, and maintenance
Windows Server operating systems deployment automation architecture, design/migration, and troubleshooting
Ability to evaluate controls and adhere to controlled technical development lifecycle and ITSM processes
Work with stakeholders to define and document business requirements and technical design documentation to integrate applications into directory and identity services.
Evaluate emerging technologies to ensure technical solutions are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives
Provide technical expertise, guidance, and strategic recommendations to other IT groups
Investigate, analyze and resolve technical issues and actively pursue mechanisms for preventing, or automating the response to reoccurrences
Engage and ensure any security changes or initiatives that might have Windows related impacts are evaluated and reviewed with the IT operations and support organization
Consult and present with all levels of management.
Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels; provide performance statistics and reports
Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call service and emergency onsite support if necessary
Who you are:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent or five years related experience.
7+ years progressive experience in a Systems Admin/Engineering, or Technical Support role preferred
7+ years of experience with Active Directory
7-10+ years development or scripting experience using Perl, PowerShell, Python, Bash
3+ years of experience with Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc..)
2+ years of experience running production OKTA Environments
Knowledge of certificate authorities, PKI, and other authentication technologies
Advanced knowledge of data synchronization strategies and tools, including data synchronization engines and scripting languages (e.g. Perl, PowerShell, Python, Bash)
